(1088, Dhandhuka, Gujarat, India–1172, Gujarat).

Sabio del jainismo. Se dice que su nacimiento fue acompañado de presagios favorables y fue educado por sacerdotes jainistas. Ordenado en 1110, pasó a ser consejero del rey Kumarapala en 1125 y al convertirlo afianzó bien el jainismo en Gujarat. Entre sus numerosos escritos figuran trabajos sobre casi cualquier rama de la filosofía y las ciencias de India, así como obras literarias como la epopeya en sánscrito, Vidas de los antiguos jainistas. Según la tradición jainista, ayunó hasta morir.
